I was born and raised in Norrköping, Sweden. After completing high school, I pursued my studies in mathematics and chemistry at Linköping University, and later biology at Stockholm University. In 1983, I received my Ph.D. in ethology, and have since remained at the university, eventually becoming a professor in 1999. My days are devoted to research, which has become both a job and a hobby for me. The boundaries between the two are somewhat unclear. I am fortunate enough to travel extensively, both within Sweden and abroad, and I prefer to visit unique and less-traveled destinations. I am particularly drawn to nature and wildlife, including birds, flowers, and landscapes. I also enjoy art and engaging in thoughtful discussions, both serious and lighthearted. One of my favorite pastimes is visiting quiet, empty cafes. I currently reside in Stockholm, sharing a home with my son. We enjoy traveling together and exploring new places.
